Other Physical Therapy Services

  1. Transcutaneous electrical nerve stimulation (TENS) is the use of electric current to block or reduce pain signals so the patient can continue with other types of treatment.
  2. Ultrasound therapy uses high-frequency sound waves to penetrate deep into tissue, vibrating and producing heat to reduce pain, decrease inflammation, increase joint flexibility, reduce swelling and improve the efficacy of TENS.
  3. Electrical stimulation uses an electric current to cause muscle contraction and activate nerves innervating extremities, a technique used to treat patients with muscle and neurological problems that helps to improve circulation, reduce pain, and to repair and increase muscle strength.
  4. Cold compresses (cold packs) are used to reduce muscle spasms and acute inflammation (48-72 hours following injury), and relieve pain and swelling.
  5. Heat compresses (hot packs).
  6. Joint mobilization to reduce tension.
  7. Massage therapy.
  8. ROM exercise.
  9. Strengthening exercise.
  10. Gait training.
